frequently asked questions
How quickly do you complete book covers?
This varies depending on our current slate of bookings. When you contact us with your booking inquiry, we will give you a precise turnaround estimate for your project (note that these time estimates expire within 24 hours if you do not complete your booking, as other projects may be booked during that time).
Who owns the rights to the book covers you make?
Once the file is delivered, you will also recieve the copyright for your book cover. We will hold no rights to it after that point, though we appreciate you tagging us in cover reveals and other social media posts. Our clients are our best and most valued source of new business, and we thank you for your referrals! For more info on copyright & licensing, view our terms & conditions.
Where do you get your cover art from?
Most of our cover art is source from Shutterstock.com, or similar high-quality, reputable stock sites. We DO NOT use questionable sites that may be violating copyrighted work. It is very important to us that we honor copyright law for your protection and ours. For this reason, we may not always be able to use images clients send to us. Better safe than sued!
What if I don't yet know the print specifications for my book?
It is better to go ahead and book your design now, and we can revisit the project to make the measurements right when you know your specs. Otherwise, you risk our booking calendar being full and us having no availability.
What if I want to upgrade my e-book cover to a print edition later?
We can certainly upgrade your cover after the fact! The price will depend on the full scope of the upgrade and any add-ons you might want; it will usually be 50% of the original price or so.
What if I don't like the concept presented for my book cover?
Your package includes at minimum, 3 revisions. So if you don't like the first concept we present, we can come back to you with another based on your feedback.
What genres do you design covers for?
What if I or you decide to cancel the project?
If at any stage of the process you decide to cancel, your deposit will not be refunded. However, if WE cancel the project due to any reason, you will receive a full refund.
How quickly do you complete commissions?
This depends on our current workload, and can vary from two weeks to three months or more. When we provide you with a quote for your project, we will also include a timeframe in which we will be able to complete it. For certain situations, we may be able to achieve a shorter turnaround, and are happy to discuss this possibility with you.
Can you provide prints of my commissioned map?
Currently, we do not offer printing services for maps. However, our maps will be print-quality, and upon request we can provide you with a list of printer recommendations.
Can you make an RPG map for me?
While we have done RPG maps in the past, our current focus is on novel maps. However, you may send us an inquiry; in the occasional circumstance that we have an opening, we may be able to fit you in.
What if I need changes made to a map after it's finished?
Throughout the design process, we will be in touch with concept art and works-in-progress for you to check over and approve, so hopefully we will catch any changes that need to be made before the commission is completed.
Do I get the copyright for the map?
Exceptional cases outstanding, as with most other types of illustration work, we retain the copyright of all our maps and confer to you upon delivery commercial rights to the piece. This means you, the client, will be able to use the piece as an illustration in your novel without royalties, or to give away free prints to your readers. We do NOT deliver original, layered PSD files of our maps except by special request, at an additional fee. Copyright, resale rights, and layered files may be sold at an additional fee--view our terms and conditions for more information.
What medium are your maps?
We want you to be confident in your book's design.
